Asia North America international sea freight rates have decreased by 10% compared to peak levels

Last week, hostile actions intensified in the Red Sea, resulting in the first batch of casualties among sailors. However, due to the fact that most container transportation has already avoided the Suez Canal, as the market enters the off-season, demand has eased and operations have entered a new routine, the freight rates of major trade routes continue to decline.

The freight rates for the Asia North American route have decreased by 10% compared to the peak, the freight rates for the Asia Nordic route have decreased by 22% compared to the high point at the end of January, and the freight rates for the Asia Mediterranean route have decreased by 34% compared to the high point at the end of January. The sea freight logistics departing from India have been most severely affected by the interruption of Red Sea shipping, but even on this route, freight rates have begun to decline, and some shipping companies have postponed the originally scheduled surcharges or price increases in March.
