Recently, due to concerns about the health and environmental impact of disposable e-cigarettes, Cargo (Luxembourg International Cargo Airlines) stated that it will no longer transport disposable e-cigarettes.

This all cargo airline stated that the ban will also apply to its subsidiary, Cargo Italia, in response to "increasing concerns about the adverse effects of these products on public health and the environment.".

Cargolux stated that disposable e-cigarettes pose significant risks to human health, especially for the younger generation, as their target marketing is to attract people's tastes.

"In addition, these devices contain lithium batteries as they are non recyclable and can become environmental risks if not properly handled. Several countries have already implemented bans on these products on their territories."

Richard Forson, President and CEO of Cargolux, said, "The ban on transporting disposable e-cigarettes reflects Cargolux's commitment to the environment, public health, and safety."

"Through this action, we hope to help reduce the availability of these products in the market. As a responsible corporate citizen, Cargolux 'goal is to encourage other logistics operators to take similar measures."

The airline added that disposable e-cigarettes have been added to an "expanding list", and Cargolux has refused to transport them on its global network routes for ethical reasons.

This is not the first time electronic cigarettes have made headlines in air cargo. As early as 2022, Hong Kong banned the transfer of these products through its territory to prevent them from entering the local market. But in 2023, Hong Kong's policies will undergo a readjustment and change, with the opening of electronic cigarette transit channels.
