Τ New York and New Jersey ports have experienced a strong start, with an increase in total transportation and car shipments this year.

The total transportation volume in January increased by 3.4% compared to the same period last year, reaching 667346 TEUs (368099 containers). In addition, car shipments have significantly increased, with 35302 cars processed in the first month of this year, an increase of 22.1% compared to January 2023.

In January 2024, the port maintained its position as the second busiest import and export port in the United States, handling 447514 TEUs, an increase of 2.6% compared to January 2023.

In addition, the import volume in January 2024 was 342790 TEUs (189699 containers), an increase of 5.8% compared to the same period last year. The import volume has also significantly increased, increasing by 27.1% compared to January 2023.

However, from January 2023 to January 2024, exports experienced a 6.7% decline, with 104724 TEUs (55890 containers) processed compared to 112269 TEUs (60506 containers) in January 2023. In January 2024, the export unloaded volume slightly increased by 4.9%, totaling 217878 TEUs.

In addition, railway transportation volume has decreased by 1.3% compared to last year, with a total of 53013 containers in January 2024.
