Melbourne Port's container throughput increases in September
In September 2024, the total container throughput of Melbourne Port increased compared to September 2023, reaching 284000 TEUs.
Full box imports (excluding the Bass Strait) have increased compared to the previous year, with an increase in imports of furniture, household appliances, and cardboard. Similarly, whole box exports (excluding the Bass Strait) also increased compared to the previous year, with significant exports of cotton, timber, hay, husks and feed, as well as wheat.
However, compared to the same month last year, the total volume of empty container transportation in September has decreased.
