Fresh cargo volume data from the two major international shipping ports in the United States and the West!
The two major ports in the Western United States, Los Angeles Port (LA) and Long Beach Port (LB), have successively released data for October this year.
The data shows that the container throughput of both ports achieved year-on-year growth in October, further indicating that the US West Coast ports are striving to regain market share.
Los Angeles Port Freight Volume Continuously Rises
The container throughput of Los Angeles Port in October was 726000 TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 7.0%, marking the third consecutive month of year-on-year growth for the port.
The import of heavy containers increased by 10.7% to 372000 TEUs, and the export of heavy containers increased by 35.2% to 121000 TEUs. In addition, the number of empty containers passing through the Port of Los Angeles decreased by 8.1% to 232000 TEUs.
In the first 10 months of 2023, the container throughput of Los Angeles Port was 7.124 million TEUs, a year-on-year decrease of 16.6%.
It is worth mentioning that after the first monthly year-on-year increase in container throughput at the Port of Los Angeles in 13 months in August, the port achieved continuous year-on-year growth in September and October, and both import and export heavy containers and monthly throughput achieved year-on-year growth.
