The American truck transportation company Meadow Lark Transport suddenly closed on Thursday, and employees said the company had filed for bankruptcy. This family owned business, headquartered in Billings, Montana, USA, has made significant progress in the past forty years since its establishment in 1983. It has suddenly ceased operations and has over 40 freight stations, 273 drivers, and 337 trucks in the United States. Hundreds of people, including drivers and office workers, will be unemployed.

The media cited data from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration stating that Meadow Lark has 273 drivers and 337 trucks. Meadow Lark's broker qualification was involuntarily revoked on August 15th, and its contract carrier qualification is scheduled to be cancelled on October 28th. This means that the company may no longer be able to prove that it has appropriate insurance to transport the goods.
According to Marcus&Millichap, a Seattle based brokerage firm, on September 23rd Meadow Lark listed for sale its 20275 square foot corporate headquarters for $3.38 million.
Meadow Lark was founded by Rick and Donna Jones in 1983. Based on the company's website, the company ultimately expanded to 40 freight stations nationwide, with an annual revenue of $200 million. In 2011, the company was sold to Amanda Roth, the daughter of the Jones couple. She remains the CEO of the company and has not responded to requests for comment on this matter.
According to media reports, an email from a former employee of Meadow Lark stated that the company filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection under the federal bankruptcy law last Friday.
