Most categories of global port trade have declined, but the Port of Los Angeles has maintained its position as the busiest container port in the United States for 24 consecutive years.

"By 2024, our goal is community investment, sustainable development progress, and gaining more market share," said Gene Seroka, Executive Director of the Port of Los Angeles "To drive freight, we are investing in a 10-year, $2 billion capital improvement plan. We will also focus on strengthening security technologies to improve efficiency and reduce our carbon footprint. All of this will bring more job opportunities and enable ports to reinvest more funds into our communities."
