China Southern Airlines plans to resume the Guangzhou Adelaide route

Adelaide Airport welcomes China Southern Airlines' announcement that it will resume flights to Guangzhou on December 12th of this year.


China Southern Airlines will operate three direct flights per week from Guangzhou to Adelaide, reconnecting the state with its second largest international tourism market.


This route will be operated by China Southern Airlines' Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft.


These aircraft adopt a 2-2-2 layout and can accommodate 18 business class passengers; Adopting a 3-3-3 layout, it can accommodate 248 economy class passengers.


The Southern Airlines Adelaide flight departs from Guangzhou on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 2215 and arrives in Adelaide at 0955 the next day. The return flight 

1130 departs from Adelaide and arrives in Guangzhou in 1805.


China Southern Airlines is one of the three major airlines in China, with a domestic and international fleet of over 900 aircraft.


In December 2016, the company launched the first direct flight between Guangzhou and Adelaide, providing three flights a week. However, due to the global COVID-19 epidemic, 

the flight stopped operation in March 2020.


It is estimated that the tourism economic impact of China Southern Airlines' three weekly flights will exceed AUD 69 million annually and create over 255 full-time tourism related jobs 

for South Australians.
